We found that these symptoms are related to a problem deleting records in those newer device's so-called NVFS (Non Volatile File System, meaning the Flash storage) under special circumstances.
The solution is to upgrade to Synthesis SyncML Client for PalmOS 220.127.116.11 or later - this version contains a workaround for the problem.
Another symptom of the same problem is when HotSync sometimes hangs while synchronizing contacts, events, tasks etc. Again, Upgrading to 18.104.22.168 or later should fix the problem.
